URL Oddities

I can not visit the simple URL "www.craftsman.com" anymore.  I must instead 
use the longer 
"http://www.sears.com/sr/craftsman/craftsman_home.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1382800846.1007145463@@@@&BV_EngineID=egadccjedlfkfbggcmgclcij.0&vertical=SEARS";

Could any web-savvy people explain this?  I had to use IE on my wife's 
machine, visit www.craftsman.com which lead to the above URL and then mail 
that long string to my Debian unstable box.
