Re: Debian Jr. and Debian Jr. Lite
Thanks Andreas and others for your comments. I will be putting together
some sort of page to put on the site shortly based on the feedback I have
received.

Well, maybe we can just draw the line for "Debian Jr." proper as excluding
anything requiring broadband internet, a LAN, or 3D (i.e. any special
hardware needs) and mark these as "extras". I am sure there are quite a
number of other hardware possibilities (graphics tablet, game controller)
that classify as "add ons" that don't affect the "base system".
Basically I want to point people buying or assembling systems for children
at a page of recommended "base systems" without taking on the
responsibility of reviewing a wide range of hardware options.

OK.

Well, it varies very much by region. In some places (e.g. the UK) ADSL or
*any* kind of broadband Internet is priced completely out of the range of
most families. I think all we can assume for Internet is some sort of
modem (probably 56K because anything less is going to be pretty painful
for web browsing, and the price difference really isn't so great anymore).
