Well, my comment was based on this post:

If I understand well, non GA releases will be reported with a -ea suffix
when typing "java -version" (at least for OpenJDK 8, I haven't checked
for OpenJDK 11). If upstream does this, so should we, otherwise we'll be
blamed for falsifying the version reported.
