Hello all! I've only posted to the list a couple of times but do enjoy reading it.

The above discussion was obviously fairly harmless but I've seen a technical mailman list descend into anarchy before when a similar issue was discussed publicly. While privately emailing the list leader may have seemed excessive, a message to the whole list can be a lot worse. Since this issue was just querying a joke, probably the best response would have been for people to email Markus directly? Either party can later talk to the list or leader if they want.

Just my view, apologies if there are aspects I've misunderstood.
