Switching default-java to OpenJDK7 subject was discussed on debian-java
[1] last year, and conclusion was :

- Since Java 6 will be EOL on Nov 2012 [2], switch to openjdk-7 is the
way to go but isn't that simple
- there was 100+ FTBFS by 2011 end (Ubuntu done some test rebuild)
- AFAIK, there is still 50+ FTBFS [3] :/

You can see in UDD that there was some bugs recently fixed regarding
those FTBFS but clearly there is a long way before we can fix everything...
