I have completed packaging this as a deb. You can find it at:

   ftp://cedar-solutions.com/debian/testing/java/
   http://www.cedar-solutions.com:70/ft/debian/testing/java/

I installed the .jar in /usr/share/java/nbio.jar (versioned), the shared
library in /usr/lib/java/jni-1.2/libNBIO.so (versioned) and the javadoc
documentation in the doc directory's html/ subdirectory. I have tested
it with my simplistic application (and simplistic, week-old knowledge of
Java) and it seems to work.

I would very much appreciate it if someone who has done this before
could look over the packaging and provide some constructive feedback.

I am not a "real" developer, so I can't upload this. If someone thinks
it's useful enough (and of high-enough quality) and would be able
to sponsor me (I guess that's how it works?), I would be willing to
maintain the package long-term. Otherwise, I'll keep it up-to-date
at the URLs above.

Thanks to all of you for your help on this subject.
