So long as you're running sarge, the 3ware 9xxx boards appear to be solid.  I
have had a hell of a time trying to get the 3ware provided 3w-9xxx driver to
work under Debian's 2.4 kernels, but it's built into 2.6.8.

You'll need to use the "Engineering Release" 3ware utilities, though; the 9.0.2
release binaries don't work with the 2.6.8 3w-9xxx driver.
