Incidentally, the most recent issue of Linux Journal magazine (Sept.)
focuses on wireless and wireless hotspots.  You may also want to check
out NoCatAuth, at http://nocat.net, as it's designed to do what you
want.  O'Reilly also has several books on the subject, one of which is
titled Building Wireless Communiyt Networks,
