if SMB is important to you then XFS is probably the filesystem of choice
as SGI are sponsoring some of the development of samba (Jeremy Allison
is employed by SGI to work on samba).

XFS is also superior for large file performance.

if you have lots of little files then reiserfs is better, but if you have
large files then XFS is better.
