Re: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS wrt keyman
Hi again, Eberhard!
Since I'm impatient by nature I asked at #debian-devel:
<GunnarHj> Hi all, asking for clarification about
https://bugs.debian.org/1007123 .
<GunnarHj> It proposes a new source package which will build the very
same binaries as three other source packages (already in Debian) have
built up to now. Is that a new package in the eyes of Debian which will
requre an ITP bug and pass the NEW queue, or is it something else?
-zwiebelbot/#debian-devel- Debian#1007123: ITP: keyman/15.0.211-2 --
Type in your language with Keyman for Linux (consolidated source
package) - https://bugs.debian.org/1007123
<bunk> GunnarHj: technically it is NEW
<bunk> AKA it will hit the NEW queue
<bunk> WNPP bugs are for coordinating work and avoiding duplicate work,
when you rename/merge/split source packages there is no strong point for
an ITP (but it's fine to have one).
<GunnarHj> bunk: Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know.
Some nitpicking before I sponsor:
* Is there a special reason why you propose "experimental"? If there
isn't it can well go to "unstable" directly. It will pass the NEW
queue regardless.
* The most logical version number is 15.0.211-1, isn't it?
* Now when there is an ITP bug, it should be closed in the changelog.
Closes: #1007123
Btw, even if the ITP bug wasn't strictly needed, it will at least
serve as a documentation of the source package consolidation.
* Can you please bump Standards-Version to 4.6.0
* I suppose that the copyright year in debian/copyright should be bumbed
to 2022. Besides that, I'd like to mention that the ftp-master is
typically very attentive to licensing matters. So it's a good idea to
re-check that d/copyright is correct and complete.
