I agree more explanation of what each of those architecture ISOs on
netinst web page, applies to would be very helpful. I created a quick
mockup page by adding some guidance on architecture to the netinst page
-  <http://gonehiking.org/netinst.html>. Would something like this work?

ISO name has traditionally been tied to the name of architecture in
Debian archives. Intel em64 was named amd64 in debian for better or
worse. I don't mind seeing ISO name decoupled from architecture name but
it might be easier to simply change the name of link to something like
amd-intel64 and let ISO still be called amd64-netinst.iso.
