The libgcc_s.so.1 link probably needs adjusting for ia64 though.

ia32-libc6 has:
lrwxrwxrwx  1 amd64-archive root 38 Jul 16 14:53 /lib/i486-linux/libgcc_s.so.1 -> /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1

lib32gcc1 on _amd64_ has:
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 31K May  7 14:08 /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1

Where is the lib on ia64?

You are the second person to have that problem. I believe that is not
a result of converting the debs but an actual bug in OOo.
Depends/Conflicts/Recommends/Suggests/Provides are converted where
appropriate so I believe i386 is missing a versioned depends already.
