Package: debian-i18n
Severity: wishlist

Dear Martijn,

I focused on providing new translations for stable for some time.
There is the (real) possibility that a translation is indirectly
already done. The scenario is package with paragraphs reused in
other descriptions - the other packages already provided
translated paragraphs, but there was no commit.

An example is denyhosts (1). It is translated to Italian, Ukrainian
and German, but only the first one is marked. (The example is for
Squeeze.)
Another case is the use of common boilerplate like "This package
contains the shared library."

It would be nice to implement a cron job looking for
" descriptions
where (( number_of_translated_paragraphs is equal to
           number_of_paragrahs ) AND
         ( description_not_marked_as_translated )) ".

Kind regards,
   Martin

We have a script that run twice a day (./completeTranslations.sh) that
make this (only for the active descriptions).

Should we change the script, that it completes all descriptions?
Yes, please. As the package search (1) also offers search results for
lenny and squeeze I consider this as an improved service for users.

I change the script (./completeTranslations.sh) and I get this result:

ddtp@churro:~$ ./completeTranslations.sh
