Re: Still more netdde problems

I put building via-rhine on the shelf for a while since i had a rtl-8139
in the mail. I would need help adding printk to the source. Could ask my
brother but i don't want to bother him for a while since he spent the
whole weekend helping me build and fixing bugs so that gnome1 would build
on hurd.

Anyway i got the netgear today, tried a clean install of hurd. These are
the problems i face:

The card wasn't found during the install.
Console output for that (if it helps):

   main-menu[1290]: DEBUG: resolver (ethernet-card-detection):
   package doesn't exist (ignored)
main-menu[1290]: INFO: Falling back to the package description
   for hurd-debian-ports-udeb
main-menu[1290]: INFO: Menu item 'netcfg' selected
   netcfg[3834]: INFO: Starting netcfg v.1.71~1 (built 20120520-2027)

I'm not sure if this is known or even a "bug".

Once the install finished i tried the following without result:

   devprobe eth1
(and eth2, 3 and 4 which are the network devices listed in /dev)

I got no output which points to that the hurd doesn't find/recognise my
network cards.

Are the hurd network drivers even included anymore? At present i have
three network cards that used to work with the 120221 build.

I then ran (output included below):

   settrans -fgap /dev/netdde /hurd/netdde

Killed the devnode and pfinet processes (using pidof and kill "pid")
Finally i tried to set up networking for any of my four devices.

   settrans -fgap /servers/socket/2 /hurd/pfinet -i eth0 -a 192.168.1.3
   -g 192.168.1.1 -m 255.255.255.0

In all cases i got the following error (same as Barry deFreese):

    /hurd/pfinet: device_open on /dev/eth0: (os/device) no such device

General information:
I tried this with an upgraded hurd (apt-get update &&
apt-get upgrade&& apt-get dist-upgrade)
with this repository:

   deb http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian unstable main

lspci output:

04:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+

lspci -n output:

04:01.0 0200: 10ec:8139 (rev 10)

Output from settrans -fgap /dev/netdde /hurd/netdde:

Phew!

If you have any ideas i'd be more than happy to try them out. It just
might take a while for me to do so.

Thanks!
