I wanted to try building some packages. Well I actually built the debian source packages. I didn't have a direct connection so I did 1) apt-get source on a GNU/Linux box 2) copied the sources to GNU/Hurd partition 3) Rebooted to GNU/Hurd and built from the source My idea was to get familiarised with building packages on GNU/Hurd and my final target was pango and gedit. But halfway through (didn't have X built yet) I had to move from my place and the system is also gone (I had taken my friends system). Now got to start from scratch. Now I have a GNU snapshot from ams running on my old pc. Got to figure out net connection. Btw what is the status of gnome?
