This is interesting ... could you say whether ttyS1 is v.e.r.y.s.l.o.w.
without the RMC plugged in?  If it is, could you update the kernel and
tell me whether it still is?  My theory is that the version of the kernel
on the 0.9.3 CD assigned the wrong IRQ to the serial port (underneath
Wax, right?) and a later version would fix that.  I'm interested
in seeing a dmesg for the D330 (off-list please) which I'll put in
http://ftp.parisc-linux.org/dmesg/ for future reference.
