Compiling gdb-5.1.1-1 on hppa

I noticed that a binary gdb package is finally in the pool!

Yaay! Congrats to all. I installed it and it appears to work
on my 715/80

However, I need to build from source to make a serial
cross-debugger for x86 Hurd. I grabbed the tarball and
the patch from the pool.

It still will not compile on my machine. Configure works
its way down to gdb, then pukes and dies with the following
error:

checking for X... libraries /usr/X11R6/lib, headers /usr/X11R6/include
configure: error: *** Gdb does not support host hppa-unknown-linux-gnu
Configure in /usr/src/gdb-5.1.1/build using "mt-frag"

So what kind of hand waving or secret configuration options do
I need to do to get this critter to configure itself? Obviously it
worked for somebody as there is a binary package there in the
same directory.

BTW, I am now trying this line:

../configure --build=hppa-hp-linux --host=hppa-hp-linux --target=i686-linux

I won't know for a while if it will be successful. My 715/80 is kinda slow.
It reminds me of those days of yore when we built our linux kernels on
a 386, and if it took all day and then crashed, well we liked it!

Thanks.
