Thanks for the info - I've been discussing with Alex Mclean
(Tidalcycles author, stackage maintainer for hosc), who has indicated
Rohan (hosc author) has already fixed upstream - I believe this is the
patch:

Apparently he sometimes needs reminding to update on Stackage - so
I'll revisit in a couple of days.
