Those are all good reasons.

(FTR the reason why I don't remove the copies is that I like to base
packaging on upstream's git master branch, and repacking is more of a
pain in that case.  But of course that doesn't apply to our
DHG_packages.git system.)

Okay.  Let's just say that whoever uploads the next upstream release of
haskell-argon2 gets to decide, since they are the one doing the work :)
