Interesting, I thought I remembered at least some other team doing this,
maybe I'm wrong.

Yes, that's the plan.

A bug against vcswatch is, IMHO, potentially not the best place to do
it. I was planning to send an email to -devel to see if anybody has
strong feelings one way or another, and wanted to check first if anybody
did it.
