I send almost the same message to this list about two weeks ago :-).

At the moment, what I, as a newcommer, see as the main focus is
transitioning all the existing packages from ghc 6.8.2 to 6.10.1.

Probably the biggest thing you can do to  help right now is to get
yourself a Debian unstable chroot or VM and grab the Debian source
packages for existing packages and make sure they build with the
6.10.1 compiler.

For those that don't compile, raise bugs and help the maintainers
sort out the transitioning of their packages.

Once all the existing packages have been transitioned then packaging
other Haskell stuff would also be useful.
