It’s not only about upstream versions, but also about the team-internal process, which is (I think) * People bump the version, distribution UNRELEASED, and make changes * Non-DDs, if they want to release, set the distribution to unstable and create an SVN tag * DDs do the upload the package. PET detects that a package is ready for upload, but not uploaded yet (not in the archive, not in incoming or NEW) and tells you about. This helps the DD in a group a lot to know what packages need to be uploaded, and saves you from having „please upload xy“ mails all the time. In our case, it could (and should) be extended to track installability and binNMU stuff.
