QST View

Has anyone got the ARRL QST view collections to work
under wine? I havn't been able to do this so I
started thinking of porting QST view to Linux.

The .dat file (in cd #1 of each collection) contains a
comma delimited ascii database which can be translated
into three SQL tables to serve as a lookup for finding
anything by title, author, author's call sign. It can
also list the articles for each issue, or a years
worth of issues.

The pages are scanned .tif images, which can be viewed
and printed by the gimp.

I am still looking for a way to use the gimp as a
display engine, callable from another program (which
would be the front end into a mySQL or Postgressql
database).

Anyway I can now manually read the .dat file and use
less to search for the keys and find the required
.tiff files to open under the gimp to read. Next step
would be to create the SQL tables and write a front
end to do the searches. Finally to be able to call
the gimp and tell it which pages to display.

The only thing I can't seem to do is to print two
pages automaticly onto a single sheet of paper using
the printers dupluxor. I tried printing to a file and
cating two files together, but ghostscript really
messed this up on printing (HPLJ IIID). Manuall
duplex sucks, but it is an option.
