Short answer: almost.  Just quit evolution, killed the data server, and
did the copy (nothing to lose, right?), and it seems to have worked,
except for lists, whose entries are of the form <xml ...>.  Oh well,
didn't need those lists anyway.  Evolution crashes when I delete them
(!), but seems to recover successfully, and they're all gone now so I
can't backtrace...

Though it seems to be working again for now, I remain sorely
disappointed with the stability/quality of evolution 2.0.  Nonetheless,
thanks to everyone on this list for excellent packaging.  If the earlier
patch for the 1.4->2.0 converter had not gone in before it hit testing,
I would probably be quite a bit more bitter!
