The new gnome way means that we are not supposed to use deep directory
structures, and that we should not use tab completition.

The real point is that in order to gain the whole lot of windows
switcher users as well as all those new corporate users, but clearly
discards those technical users which where our traditional user base.
You know, those who are not power users, but not stupid enough not to
understand how to do tab completition.

And this flurry of Ctr-xxx maddening stuff is a bit strange from a user
interface which is supposed to be graphical and using a mouse ?

Again, i don't think my remarks are off-limit, since it is clear that
the gnome people are trying to level by the bottom the smartness of
gnome. And i believe that this doesn't fit the debian user base.

Well, this is d-i with a few gtk stuff instead of text based ones. I
have some doubts about what that really brings though, and i do believe
that a graphical installer would be better suited on top of SDL over
fbdev or DirectFB or something such, with true graphical thingies,
nothing in anyway similart to what you showed me above.
