galeon, ..these things,..! install? doesn't. I dunno
I have sent a bug report about it, going to raise it here,
I have had an installation of galeon on my i386/testing version and I have not upgraded the system since last summer (no bandwidth) so I have done it now and I think that I made a big mistake:
I have executed an "apt-get upgrade" on my console (tty1)
while I was browsing the web with galeon on gnome and when I got back, I think I have ignored one of the messages that said please leave gnome applications while we are configuring gconf or something like that, when I restarted the computer the galeon was trying to tell me something:
please check your GConf settings, look in the galeon FAQ's for more information.
I have not found anything helpful (well, the tricks they offered did not work) (maybe I misunderstood...
my log entry in syslog:
gconfd logged(syslog) that it started (version 2.4.0.1) with pid 811 user ogorg
and then the three messages that it resolved the lines in the config file...
and then in the same second it started it with a differen pid???"
gconfd starting (version 2.4.0.1) pid 813 user ogorg
" Failed to get lock for daemon, exiting: Failed to lock '/tmp/gconfd-ogorg/lock/ior': probably another process has the lock or your operating system has NFS file locking misconfigured (Resource temporarily unavailable)"
so finally it tells me (ogorg-811 ) GConf server not in use, shutting down. and then exiting
I think that there is a related problem with this:
"I get repeated messages that this locale is not supported (generally by any perl script)
I get warnings that LANGUAGE = (unset)
LC_ALL= (unset)
LANG = "en_GB.ISO-8859-15"
are supported and installed on your system falling back to standard locale ("C")
what bugs me is that I do not get the galeon back,:
I Purged the package, since I could not fix it and then I cannot re-install it because of the dependency problems/conflicts :
"galeon: Depends: gnome-control-center (>= 1:2.2.0) but 1:1.4.0.5-3 is to be installed
E: Sorry broken packages...
I am sorry because I think that galeon is much better than mozilla the monster-zilla... (because my system is a little slow...)
