Hmmm, works here.  The cpu usage is high 80-90%), but no crash or
lockup.

$ COLUMNS=100 dpkg -l|grep flash

This is from:
deb http://marillat.free.fr stable main

Are you using a modified kernel-- maybe with lowlatency or preemtpible
patches?  I ask because I had some weird crashes with these patches. 
May be totally unrelated.
