I got around that with the following debian/shlibs.local file: libICE 6 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) libSM 6 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) libX11 6 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) libXext 6 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) libXrender 1 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) libXt 6 xlibs (>= 4.2.0) But that's probably a dirty hack, too, but according to the Debian policy accepted as a temporary measure to circumvent bugs.
