As you noticed, the translation hasn't been updated in a very long time,
and LDP-BR (the team you're contacting) seems to be pretty inactive. The
translator used to work for Conectiva, which became Mandriva with
Mandrake, and I guess he is not active anymore.

Could you forward this there, then, or give me instructions on how to?
Or perhaps ask for revision on debian-l10n-portuguese@l.d.o? I can't see
why it would hurt that much to apply a patch on the Debian version. It's
just a gross gender mistake we have releasing with, and I wouldn't want
one more version with one of this kind, really.

I'd be even willing to update and fix all the translations related to
the GNU project (from glibc to whatever else is available/necessary),
but I don't really know how to do it. If you could point be in the right
direction, I'd be really grateful.
