Hi Alex, after a few weeks of intense real life, I've had some time free to check the postgis package. After trying out your package, I came to the conclusion that your debian/rules is rather complex and we have to simplify the build process in order to have an approval from ftp-masters. For this reason, I tried to package postgis from scratch [1]. You can download the simplified package here [2]. I hope that starting from a clean package, we can reach the minimum level required from ftp-masters for the approval. My package is very different from yours, but it is quite normal if you consider that I've started from scratch. Here there is a quick list of things I've changed: * renamed binary packages to postgresql-postgis-{7.4,8.1} * removed support for postgresql-8.0, etch won't ship it * removed several binary packages (we just need one jdbc package and no utils, examples and doc for the moment) * moved documentation to postgis-common * easy and linear debian/rules * team maintainership, this is the way to go (tm). * other small things. So, could you please check the package and give me a list of things that you would change? My goal is to modify this package adding *some* of the features you have in your package, but not all (eg. debian/control autogeneration is not good for Debian). As you can see, I've added the pkg-grass list in Cc; maybe somebedy there can give us feedback on the package and its missing features. Thanks, [1] My intent wasn't to trash out your work, just to have a clean and easy to modify start point. [2] http://peolpe.debian.org/~kobold/postgis/ -- Fabio Tranchitella <kobold@debian.org> .''`.
