Any reason not to use the same trick than for the other packages from the suite (gcc, g77, gcj, gpc etc...). That is, have /usr/bin/gnat*-version in the <> packages and provide a gnat-fsf package with the symlink. Using update-alterative & friends is also an option.


This is certainly a possibility, but it involves some coding and it
doesn't seem to be worth the effort.


At the present on an uptodate sarge box, I can provide g*-2.95, g*-3.3, g*-3.4 (and maybe 3.2) for almost all the tools from the suite but not for gnat.


gnat-3.4 is not a feature-complete replacement for gnat, so it's
unlikely that you're using it if you're doing serious Ada work.
gnat-3.2 and gnat-3.3 have serious bugs, IIRC.
