in that case it sounds like a problem with your servers network card. If you
have a line from router to hub which works, unplug it on the router side,
and stick it into the server, and then the hub shows no link, in that case
the ethernet card of your server is not able to autonegotiate with your hub.
OR your router has a crossover port, which is unlikely.
Does your server has 2 cards and both behave the same way?
