Adding a 2nd NIC to create a DMZ

I have succesfully set-up an old 486 as a firewall between my Windows PC
and my dial-up internet connection.  I now want to create a simple DMZ,
by adding a 2nd NIC to my firewall machine, so I can experiment with a
web server.

I'm unsure how I go about adding a 2nd NIC to a system that is up and
running.  Can anyone give me any pointers?
