For toolchain related stuff, `buildcross' in experimental (yes, it
is still rc-buggy) gained support for handling cross libraries without
depend on `apt-cross' (which default at the moment is to depend on
`apt-cross'). `buildcross' does not yet work as I would like it to
work, in order to hit Squeeze, but, it would be nice if we could do
some more testing and fixing (not hard stuff) on `buildcross' so we
can ship this tool along Squeeze and anybody will be able to build its
own cross toolchains with it.

Best regards,
