The message tells you that X wants to create a socket, and fails.
It fails because cramfs is a readonly filesystem.
On my desktop:
# lsof -U | grep XFree86 | head -1
XFree86 508 root 1u unix 0xdfa7e800 453
/tmp/.X11-unix/X0
# ls -l /tmp/.X11-unix/
total 0
srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 17 22:25 X0=
#
So, you need a writeable fs for /tmp if you want to run X.
