I image people will want to use all of:
romfs squashfs jffs2 yaffs ext2/3. Any more popular ones? Does romfs
supercede cramfs?

The final image fs doesn't affect packaging much (at all?) but it does
affect the kernel (nneds support), and config like fstab. Mostly you need a
'build-image' command/target to wrap the filesystem up in the right form at
the end - that right form also being quite dependent on the boot mechanism.

OE and emdebsys both conatin magic to sort this sort of stuff out so it's
consistent. Emdebian itself should be as agnostic as possible about such
things.
