 If there are entries, there is software that can be started from there.
Removing GUI access to software, so that it only is accessible from the 
command line will not be considered a progress by our target users.

 Either a more sensible tree structure is called for, or some software
should be removed, plain and simple.  Hiding it is bad hygiene.
