Summary: Read access to root files denied
Product: Skolelinux
Version: etch-release-3.0r1
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: debian-edu-config
AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
ReportedBy: niniel@online.no
System; Skolelinux for stand alone PC. Test PC: Dell Dimension XPS T600 with 512
MB RAM and 80GB HD and Plextor DVD.
Trying to install Tasty Meny in the kicker panel, I wished to know where kicker
placed the applets for installation in the panel. Not possible. Konqueror gave
me information for my home directory, and that was it. How the heck does the
developers think a stand alone PC should be used? Blocking the file system for
user read access is at least a good reason to throw Skolelinux on stand alone
PC's out with the bath water.
Also, I had a program DVD with Tasty Meny on it, together with a lot of other
programs, a full DVD. As I normally do, I putted the DVD in the reader and
thought to copy Tasty Meny to my home directory. Hello; I could not get
information about the content on the DVD. The system told me I had mounted an
empty DVD, and wished me to tell what program I intended to open it with.
Konqueror showed me the symbol for the DVD, but was not able to get any content
shown.
