I have traveled to USA, Spain, Ireland and Germany the past 7 weeks. 
I've used my standard laptop bag trough the security check at every 
airport. This also applies when traveling by London where the safety 
measures has been the strictest. So going to France by plane is totally 
doable with a standard laptop bag with your laptop inside. You will be 
asked to take out the laptop trough the security check.
