The «bf24» option is *meant* to start the (now old) boot floppy installer.
It's there in case options «linux» or «expert» won't work as expected. 
This option is fairly deprecated now. 
The reason it's still in the woody-based Skolelinux installer is, woody-based
Skolelinux was released before debian-installer was finished. Skolelinux has
been a testbed and development platform for debian-installer, and needed a
fallback option.
