Can you handle it in the wrapper and deprecate it?
Handling two-argument options seems like a pain.
We could provide a more reasonably parsable alternative if the
functionality is actually needed. Is it? I can't quite imagine when it
would be used.
The dpkg's install-info aligns the sections' titles, and this is not
done by the GNU's install-info. I don't know whether this makes a
difference for the info viewers.
I'm not sure what you mean. How can the section titles in the dir file
be "aligned"? Section titles are just ignored text anyway, as far as
the viewers go.
Anyway, it makes no difference. The info viewers go by punctuation, not
whitespace, and certainly not columns, in the menu entries.
