Considering the average lifetime of FreeDesktop components, I have doubts as
to whether systemd will still exist in 10 years, at least in anything
resembling its present form.

Systemd as the blob might still exist, but its parts will likely have
underwent complete rewrites that require a new external API.

An imaginary friend squared is a real enemy.
