Oh, but of course these features are optional. You can still run GNOME
without any of them. I can’t guarantee this will be a pleasant
experience, but maybe you manage your device groups yourself, do not
care about user switching, and do every operation needing temporary
privilege escalation in a root terminal.
If you want to get logind split out and working without systemd as init,
just go ahead and show us the code, nobody is stopping you. But please
stop complaining that GNOME is using the only available implementation
for these features.
