In my own personal opinion?
I would recommend persuading upstream to switch back to the previous
BDB license (the one used up to Berkeley DB 5.3), or, at least, to
switch to the GNU LGPL v2.1, in order to enhance compatibility with
BDB-using software.

I don't know whether this can succeed, though...
