That's why I originally proposed the "DKMS way", i.e.:

dkms add [..]
dkms remove [..]
dkms status [..]
...

I believe that most people feel comfortable only with .deb's (this is
not Raphael's case, I hope!)... but, well, if that "manual way" is accepted, it
might become the "standard way" to do it in Debian one day.
