Let me step in again as one of the maintainers for all these packages:

These were a mistake fixed on the next britney run. Mistakes happen, and
in this case there has been no consequences.

I personally asked the release team to remove these packages, which are
deprecated and unmaintained, both upstream and in Debian.

Update-manager *does* have an unfixed RC bug, and the GNOME team is too
busy currently to fix it, so it is obvious that we can not afford under
the current conditions to ship it in lenny.

If you really want to see update-* in lenny, you are more than welcome
to give a hand to fix them, to maintain them in the long term, or to
help us enough on other packages so that we can deal with them. If you
are only here to rant, please shut up.
