I don't see how this helps me bring up the network at the right time. I guess 
you are suggesting this in addition to shuffling around init scripts.

I have a working solution that doesn't require building modules statically 
into the kernel. I would like to see a mechanism to support this type of use 
case (network hosted block level storage) in a more generic way so that I 
(and others) don't have to reinvent the wheel when doing this. If that wheel 
has not been invented, I would like to help do so.
