False. Unaligned data access is a portability problem, and I've never
seen a bus error on any of my PPCs or i386s[0], but I have on
UltraSparc.

[0] Actually, I did have my current machine (an i686) have a problem
with a bus error, but that was because *somebody* (who shall remain
nameless) accidentally unplugged the hard disk while the computer was
running. Needless to say, the kernel did not take kindly to this.
