I have used aptitude every now and then just to see what all the fuss is
about but I just don't like it. Popup menus in text applications are so
1990's!
On the other hand, dselect works for me, taps right into my finger memory
and just feels more solid than aptitude. Its interface is more userfriendly
as well, with the list of packages expanded by default. I don't really
know if aptitude lets you set that up as well, but frankly I don't really
care :)

Please don't ever think about dropping dselect from the distro; it's a great
tool!
