As I have already said, this is hardly obvious.

I think I might agree that vi crash files should get cleaned up.

But I would not agree that emacs autosave files should get cleaned up.

And the only reason for my different answers is beacuse the vi files
get stored away in a system location, while the emacs ones land in the
users' directories.
